Lesser Sulfur Crested Cockatoo

Scientific Name: The scientific name for the lesser sulfur crested cockatoo is Cacatua sulphurea.


Physical Characteristics: Lesser sulfur crested cockatoos are white parrots with a prominent yellow crest on their head. They have gray-blackish beaks and feet. They also have yellow patches on their cheeks, distinguishing them from other subspecies of Sulphur Crested cockatoos.


Habitat: Lesser sulfur crested cockatoos can be found in forest scrub, cultivated areas, and grasslands in Australia, Indonesia, and New Guinea.


Behavior: Lesser sulfur crested cockatoos are active and high-energy birds. They are known to be gentle and playful, but they can also be shy. Unlike larger white cockatoos, they tend to not speak as well. They are generally not as demanding or possessive.


Lifespan: With proper care and a suitable environment, lesser sulfur crested cockatoos can live up to 60 years in captivity.
