Scientific Name: The scientific name assigned to white-bellied caiques is Pionites leucogaster.


Physical Characteristics: White-bellied caiques are small and compact parrots that typically reach a length of about 9 inches and weigh around 180 grams on average. They boast a vibrant mix of colors, with green feathers covering most of their body, including their thighs. Their head displays shades of orange or yellow, while their belly is off-white or white. Their beaks are pinkish-horned, and their feet also exhibit a pinkish hue.


Habitat: White-bellied caiques are native to the Amazon Basin in South America, specifically found in the humid forests of Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. In the wild, they can be found living in pairs, small groups, or bands. They are known for their social nature, and their habitat preferences include noisy and sedentary environments. These birds are highly intelligent, energetic, and enthusiastic, and they enjoy interacting with humans or other avian companions.
